With the entire wold glued to their T.V sets, and millions of supporters of both the finalists holding their breaths and praying for the victory of their heroes, the golden jabulani was tossed in the air. The match was a full on entertainer and went on entertaining the world even longer than it was expected to. A very tight match, where both the teams refused to give the other any chance to score, went on and on and on... It was a great treat to watch as their was a record number of cards that were issued during it. 14 in total, the first card of the game was issued, in the 14th minute itself when, Robin van Persie was booked by Howard Webb. Netherlands, who were desperate to take the cup home, would do anything for it. They played a very rough game without thinking about anything else but the cup. Joan Capdevila and Xabi Alonso were the victims of their lunges and kicks. Wesley Sneijder after the nasty attempt to stop Pedro, even successfully diverted attention by acting to get injured himself and all that he got was a warning from the referee. Though Spain did not play innocently, they were majorly at the receiving end of such physical attacks. The ball possession was majorly with Spain, all thanks to Xavi and Iniesta who were at their very best throughout the game. Netherlands had got a major chance to take the lead in the second half but, Spain skipper, Iker Casillas made a brilliant save and denied Robben his chance to score. Though Casillus was being kept busy in the other corner, he brilliantly used his leg and sent the ball wide. John Heitinga was sent out of the game in the extra time following his second yellow card when he pulled Iniesta back. This provided Spain with an advantage in the numbers but the Dutch did not lose their grip on the field. Just when it seemed that the tie would head into penalties, Andres Iniesta, scored in the 116th minute, 4mins before the end of the extra time. Iniesta made the final move in making Spain the world champions for the first time in the history of the cup. Spain's characteristic patience could yet again be seen in the final as well. Unlike the Dutch side, there wasn't even a moment of frustration in them when they were not being able to score. They kept their cool and later became triumphant. Patience and cool was the major problem with Netherlands. They, on the other hand, were very nervous and restless which is evident from the amount of cards that were issued to the team, four yellow cards being issued in the first half of the game itself. This is the third time that Netherlands has had to face a defeat in the world cup final and it is bound to be difficult for them. Spain however has taken the cup home for the first time ever, becoming the eight team to be crowned the world champions. Casillas, couldn't stop his tears after the whistle announced their first world cup victory! The team rejoiced after winning and have provide their country as well as their fans all over the world a wonderful reason to celebrate!!! Now that the World Cup is over head over to www.here to place a bet on many of their lines, from MLB betting to the upcoming NFL season there are many ways to win with where everybody bets.
